Catherine and Alexander were honored to study with Patty and will never forget her creativity, passion, dedication and professionalism. As a piano educator she inspired and encouraged them, through her unique hosting of poster competitions, rehearsal and recitals, to not only play their pieces technically well but also to make sure they learned the biography of the composers, background of the pieces and the way to artistically present and successfully market them in front of the audiences. The way she taught and the influence she made is priceless and our hearts are with the Schweickert family.

The loss of Princess Pat is like losing yet another family member. Patty & Mrs. Schweickert have always breezed into our thoughts no matter where we go or what we do. I was always amazed at how PP selected just the right pieces for her students, ideal to the student's personality & interest, but challenging yet achievable. Her caring, encouragement, passion, and dedication is none found anywhere else. She, along with Mrs. Schweickert, created the Melody House "family". We miss all the carpooling to the piano parties, all the students and parents working together to decorate the Millburn Library, the Twice As Nice duet concerts with surprise Santa, the Valentine's concerts with poster contests, and the end year Mother's Day Performances, seeing all the shining stars with their trophies & awards, a time to recognize and immerse in their achievements, and last but not least, PP's home made chocolate chips cookies. PP was more than just a piano teacher, she truly cared for her students. I remember one time Ethan mentioned to PP about the soreness on his shoulders from practicing, next thing we know, PP got him a therapeutic bean strap to sooth his soreness and shared her practicing experience with him. They have more than just a teacher-student relationship, Ethan loved sharing his sport games with PP and PP was always so supportive & encouraging for all that he does. We are truly grateful and honored for having such a magnificent piano teacher and she will be dearly missed.

Princess Pat is a truly amazing person back by a terrific mom. Our kids have learned great piano skills. Bit more importantly, they learned about devotion through her examples. It wasn't just the lessons with the constant positive encouragements. She devoted many Saturday parties, recitals, and the twice-as- nice which adds a dimension to music. They learned about professionalism in presenting and performing, that will carry forth in their lives. Kristin, Kaitlin and Victoria wants no other teacher except for the Schweickert's. We are all sorry and have missed her already. God Bless. Vitus, Kit, Kristin, Kaitlin and Victoria.

I cannot possibly put into words what Patti meant and will continue to mean to me. Patti not only made me into who I am musically but helped me grow personally as well. She dedicated her life to music and her students. Like many of the others have said, Patti was more than just a piano teacher--she was a loving and devoted inspiration to us all. Thinking back to our lessons and rehearsals, I still smile remembering how nervous I felt when I wasn't 100% sure I had my piece memorized and that Patti would not be pleased. Of course, the intentions behind making us memorize our pieces by rehearsal time were all good and extremely helpful come concert time! Thank you is just not enough to express the gratitude I have in my heart for you, Patti. I will always remember to play my "louds" a little louder and my "softs" just that much softer. I miss you so much... Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Schweickerts. Love, forever and always, Julie Hsieh & Family

It was very heard breaking to hear this sad news. We began piano lessons with the Schweickert’s and deeply appreciated their commitment to the children. As Audrey would say, Princess Patti was the best teacher and a good friend. She was always motivating her and the other students with her bright outlook and enthusiasm. No other teacher can compare to her love for teaching and her love for her students. She was always there to listen to their problems, their feelings or just about everything. Audrey has learned a lot from her and will always keep Princess Patti in her heart. Our deepest sympathies go to Mr. and Mrs. Schweichert and their family.

We did not know Patricia well but we certainly knew of her outstanding reputation as a superb piano teacher. When she became ill, some of her students came to us in order to finish off their Piano Guild Auditions.
Not only are these piano students terrific piano players, they are Pianists – the highest compliment we can give. Their technical skills are impeccable, and the emotion with which they interpret music brings tears to the eyes of all. These students show remarkable poise and approach the piano with a sense of professionalism far beyond their years. For the rest of their lives, Patti's students will carry the gifts she gave them.
Many people will miss Patti terribly – all the students and their families that she has taught over the years. Patti was unique in the sense that her students' families were also her families. Patti was a gift to people as well as to the music world, and these gifts of love and devotion will live on for many, many decades. Cinder & John LeDell

We really, really miss Princess Pat. She was an extrordinary teacher who taught uniquely through piano parties, multiple concerts, and many metaphors, such as "pet the cat," "peanut butter," and others. Patti was the best piano teacher ever, and our hearts break to hear the sad news. Patti always wore a gentle smile upon her face, and always knew the right thing to say. She was very encouraging, and may she forever rest in peace. We miss you and love you, Patti.
With love from the bottom of our hearts, Jocelyn, Valerie, Sophia, and Pao-Gen Wang.

We will always cherish the memory of Patti share her passion for music with Ben. Her influence, though, was much more than musical. She has been an important part of his life and a little bit of Patti will travel Ben wherever his life leads him.

There was only one Princess Pat, and there will be a part of her in with every note that is played. Alana and Talia both recognize what we lost, but also what we gained from seven short years with Melody House and Patti. She effortlessly instilled in all those young pianists values that we, as parents, struggle to impart: integrity, respect, poise and love for music. She was an extraordinary role model for the young (and the old). Patti impacted more people than most others in their lifetime, and left an indelible mark on our family that will remain forever.
All our love and sympathy to the Schweickert family.

I can't imagine what high school would have been like without piano, but I know that playing piano would not have been the same without Pat as a teacher. The hours spent in her studio remain some of the most memorable in my life. Not only has the precision I learned in playing piano there been applicable to many other aspects of my life, but I will forever cherish the spirit Pat brought to the lessons. She made learning to play the piano a joy. And I continue to be inspired by the personal connection she was able to make with so many of her students and the impact she had on their lives. She is and will be missed.

Patricia was a generous and active of the New Jersey Federation of Music Clubs for many years. Whether serving on the Board, organizing the Gold Cup Concert, sorting the numerous awards or participating in many discussions about our philosophy of teaching for our students, she was always an upbeat and positive presence. She excelled at judging students of all ages and abilities, being able to find something to applaud and something to challenge every student who played for her. She was able to set pianists at ease when playing auditions in a stressful situation -- they always came out out "her" audition room with a smile on their faces.
We all missed Patricia (and Rosalie) at the Festivals this spring. I know her students missed her as well. Festivals without the Schweickerts just didn't feel right.
My sincerest sorrow for the loss of a very special fellow musician and teacher.

Patti was one of those people who I really couldn't get sick of. All of her students probably spent more time with her than with some of our family members. She was quite the woman, insanely talented, stern, and loving. She was the best kind of teacher a person can be. I could talk to her for hours if I didn't have a piano lesson in the way. Her devotion to not only me, but to every single one of her students is unheard of in any other musical art studio or even in schools. There was not a bone of ill-will in her body. We will never forget the profound effects of this great woman on our lives.

I was just searching the internet to see if I could find Patti on Facebook and was so saddened to learn of her passing last year. I have taught piano now for 18 years and think of Patti often since she is the one who gave me the skills to be able to do what I am doing. She was an excellent and demanding teacher while still being my friend, mentor, and free therapist through middle and high school. My heart goes out to the Schweickert family and all those effected by Patti's passing. Much love, Mary Ann Johnson Hill (formerly of New Providence, NJ)

Patti will be in our hearts for many years to come. She was instrumental in developing Catherine's piano talent, and we are endebted to her. She always had a warm smile underpinned with a good heart, and provided both encouragement and challenge in her teaching. We will miss her. We will also miss the recitals, piano parties, and chocolate chip cookies she baked for each event....God bless her and her entire family in this time of grief which cuts us all to the heart.

We are all truly sadden by the news of Patricia's passing. Princess Pat was more than just a piano teacher, a friend; she was an amazing person. She was always kind and considerate and she gave everything to her students; always enriching their lives with piano and always embracing them each as her own. We think of her often and the boys miss their "chats" with her. "it's just not the same without her."
Her passing will not only leave a void in our lives, but in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Patti's memory will always remain deep within our hearts.
Our sincerest thoughts and prayers are with the entire Schweickert family.
With deepest sympathy,
Lisa, Ben, Jonathan and Kyle

My family knew Patti for the last 20 years. Michael and Melissa gained not only exceptional piano technique, but most importantly, gained a professional manner and performance skill.
Her loyal appearance and attention to detail were always effective and motivated our daily lives. She was and always will be exceptional.
Whenever I talked to Patti, before or after classes, her positive, challenging, and caring personalities were like bright stars in the night sky. We knew the true Patti through these small talks.
Patti will always be in our hearts and motivate us time after time.
God bless Patti and may she forever rest in peace.

Here is a photo I found of Patti with me, and two other students from a high school recital. Patti meant the world to me and it has taken me years to process her passing… I send my deepest condolences to her family.. I’m certain that without Rosalie and Patti, I would not have the career that I do in the arts. I started at age 5 and continued with Melody House through HS graduation. Patti’s lessons gave me an incredible range of finely-tuned techniques and intuitions to process not just music, but other art forms too. And a sense of discipline, pride, & respect for the work that is irreplaceable. I’m currently an artist and a songwriter (wasn’t sure she’d approve of my self-taught guitar skills!!).. and I think of her often. She was probably the best role model and friend I could have ever hoped for and I’m thankful every day. Just a brilliant light in this world— I hope we can all live up to the example she set. It’s belated of me, but I’m sending much love to her family, and fellow students- I know we all cherish her memory. -Jackie (Heloise) Liebman
