Obituary of Edwin R Haggerty

Edwin Russel Haggerty, 86, of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, passed away on November 16, 2019 at 9:53am at the home of his son, John Russel Haggerty, and daughter in-law, Paula. Funeral services will be held at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 11:00 am.  Visitation will be held at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home on Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. Mr. Haggerty was born in 1932 in Baldwin, NY to Edwin J. Haggerty and Martha Haggerty. He was the oldest of two boys. Mr. Haggerty completed his undergraduate degree at Hofstra University and his law degree at Fordham University. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He then went on to be a corporate lawyer at AT&T where he met his late wife, Joan. They had two children, John Russell and Christine Martha, both of whom attended Ridge High School. Mr. Haggerty retired at the sprightly age of 55 and spent the rest of his time being a loving grandfather and a regular at local establishments such as The Station and Grain House. Survivors include his son, daughter, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, brother, Jerry,  sister-in-law, Josephine, nieces, five grandchildren and one great granddaughter - all of whom will miss him dearly and those of whom are of legal age will raise a glass of Johnny Walker black in his honor.
