Obituary of Joseph Richard LaCapra

Joseph R. LaCapra passed away peacefully on November 8, 2019, he was 98 years young.

A proud Italian American, Joseph of Newark and Bloomfield New Jersey was married to Lucille, his loving wife for 59 years.

He leaves behind his Daughter Janis, Son-in-law Paul Vallone, great granddaughter Alysa Pinto, Great grandson Micheal Pinto and Great Grand Dog Lilly, granddaughter Lisa Wiedmuller, her husband Bill and great Grandchildren Andrew Wiedmuller and Julia Wiedmuller. He is Survived by his sister Ann Fontana and predeceased by his two brothers Dominick and Al.

A Veteran of World War II, Joseph was a Cartograhper stationed in India from 1941 until his Honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1945.

The Co-Owner of LaCapra and Sons Hardware store in Newark, New Jersey, Joseph proudly served his neighbors and Community for many years.

A lifelong desire to attend College was fulfilled when he entered Bloomfield College at the age of 40 and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting.  He then went to work for Dupont from which he retired years later.

A long standing member of the AMVETS, Joseph proudly supported his Country and fellow Veterans in a leadership position in this organization.

A celebration of a life well lived, Joseph loved his family and friends and he will be remembered by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019, 10:00am at the funeral home.
