Obituary of Laura Nieves
Laura Nieves joined Our Lord in joy on the 4th of June, 2019, after a brief illness. She will be welcomed by her mother Emilia, father Paz, and sister Maria, among many loved ones who went before her.
Laura was a proud New York City businesswoman. She began her career with ITT World Services, and, after retiring from ITT but not ready to leave the business world, she joined McGraw Hill as a Senior Executive Assistant. Throughout her life Laura reached for new experiences and enriched her life through years of extensive travel around the world. Always on the move, she believed in the power of learning and doing to keep life interesting, and never tired of building new dreams to follow. Her beautiful spirit and unending grace called to all who knew her, and she wishes that the memories of her bring delight and happiness for her friends and family. Laura’s true joy was to give of her heart. She spent her life helping her family and friends through the course of their lives and donated her time and support to help those in need. Laura wished to thank her family and friends near and far, and her family in the Church of St. James, for blessing her life with the fullness of their hearts.
Laura is survived by many adored friends, by her niece Laura and husband Pat, her Goddaughter Linda and husband Bill, her cousin Leigh, cousins Henry, Bill, Richard and Pete and their wonderful wives, and by her many grand-cousins to whom she gave of her time and love such that she was a treasured part of their lives. Through them her family heritage lives on.
