Nancy Bell, 91, of Basking Ridge, N.J. passed away peacefully on Sunday May 26th, at the Sunrise of Basking Ridge Senior Living. Her husband and son at her side.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday June 1 st. at the Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church, 45 Church Street, Liberty Corner, NJ 07938 at 10:30 am. Burial will immediately follow the service.
Nancy was born in Glen Ridge, N,J. to Imogene DeGoll Decker and William Henry Decker III on August 2, 1927. She grew up and was raised in Montclair, N.J. She attended Montclair public school and graduated from Montclair High School in 1947. After graduation from high school , Nancy worked a variety of jobs. She enjoyed a sales position with Hayne and Co., Newark, N.J. Her favorite employment position was with Binney and Smith Toy Manufacturing Company. Binnie and Smith later became the Crayola Company. She also was a dance instructor with the Arthur Murray Dance Studios. Nancy was a longtime member of the Montclair Ski Club where she made many friends including her husband John E. Bell and enjoyed skiing all over the east coast and Canada. She also enjoyed golf and tennis and hosting many parties for family and friends.
Nancy had a love of Antiques and became an Antique Dealer in the mid to late 1970’s. She was the Owner of Charlotte’s Roost Antiques and Decorative Arts. nancy also loved art and was an accomplished painter. She particularly liked the works of Grandma Moses. She was a longtime member of the Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School and was active in their small group “Circles” of friends within the church. She was a member of the Bernards Township Historical Society and Garden Club.
Nancy is survived by husband John E. Bell of Basking Ridge, her son James A. Bell, and his wife Patricia and their two sons William and Matthew Bell of Califon, N.J. She was predeceased by her daughter Charlotte Louise Bell, her sister Adele D. Hillyer, parents Imogene And William Decker III, brother in law Edward Huffman, and sister in law Elizabeth “Betty” Bell Huffman.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital or The Systemic Lupus Erythamatosis Foundation.
The Bell Family would like to extend their Heartfelt Gratitude to the Staff’s of The Sunrise Senior Living Center - Basking Ridge, Homeside Hospice , The Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church, Galloway and Crane Funeral Directors and Staff, The Somerset Visiting Nurses Association, Genesis Healthcare of Morristown, The Liberty Corner First Aid Squad and Morristown Medical Center Staff for their efforts in the care of Nancy.
