I was so saddened to learn of Bob’s death. I was a colleague at Chubb for 8 years, but left when the company was purchased in January 2016. The obituary got it completely right: he was a very good soul and always-jovial guy. In meetings that could be tense, he was always the calm, light-hearted voice in the room. RIP, Bob.

Hi All, I am one of Robert’s youngest sisters. After finally catching my breath following his sudden passing and reading eveyone’s wonderful memories of Robert - I rembered one that I always cherish from when we were kids (one of many I have) and that I think embodies the man that he became and that we/you all knew. I was maybe 5 years old and Robert was about 16. It was nearing Christmas and in passing on the stairs inside our home, one of my brothers said to me ... Santa Claus did not exist. Robert was standing on the stairs with me. I was soooo sad and Robert saw that and he grabbed my hand and walked me upstairs and proceeded to tell me in no uncertain terms that Santa was real and why he was real. He patiently “answered” all my questions about Santa Claus. I can remember that like it was yesterday. He was a gentle, kind and empathic soul. He was ... Robert.

I am so sorry to hear of Bob's recent passing. I was a friend of Bob's at the University of Scranton. He was a great guy and I enjoyed many fun times with him, especially as his street hockey teammate in Scranton. Unfortunately, we lost touch over the years but my many fond memories of our time together all those years ago puts a smile on my face.
God Bless you, Bob!

May our loving Father give the entire family sustenance and strength you need to continue cope with the loss of your loved one. As the days continue to pass, I hope you find comfort and support in the people that surround you and the wonderful memories you carry in your mind and in your heart. May the words of 1 Peter 5:7 “ while you throw all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you” bring the entire family comfort and strength. Please accept my sincere condolences.

Robert’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5:28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope.

Bob Boyle was my brother in law but quickly became my brother. Being in a wheelchair I am constantly faced with exclusion due to physical barriers. Bob would have none of it ! He would lift, hoist, push and if need be carry me over, around and through obstacles ! He was like the army corps of engineers in helping me solve these problems. In later years even with leg and back problems he was there for me. Bob was kind & caring. If I had a dollar for every time he put my wheelchair in and out of the back of his car I’d be a rich man ! His talents were diverse And I would kiddingly say to him “ for an accountant you’re a damn good handyman” He built closets and assembled furniture to help me. He loved sports... and was an Islander fan! He always sought out intelligent conversation and debate. He was a true patriot & loved this great country! His knowledge of history and particularly WW 2 was immense. He was/is a really good man and I wish I thanked him a lot more while he was still in this world. Thank you Bob ...and Maura thank you- you couldn’t have found a better guy. Bob, your family and friends are great people and I’m glad to be counted among them ...Bob .We love you -we miss you -and we will see you again!

Robert
There are far and few people who had the grace that you had
Strangers quickly became friends, misunderstandings easily forgiven
You were a warrior for your family and in your work you were driven
I wish I could have told you again you were one of my heroes
You struggled but you did not stop climbing
And in your shadow I am left crying
You were there for me when my world fell apart
I love you my brother
The world will never see another
We will not forget the child, the husband the father that you were
Deep in my heart are memories of gold
And around the table they will be told
You gave all of us a reason to be happy though sometimes you ached
You left us a legacy of loyalty, and goodness
Your laughter, was an invitation to experience life in its fullness
We can’t share the roaring of your speakers anymore
The songs that made your spirit soar
Without you my heart is poor
Somewhere beyond the crescent moon you are exploring
You live a new in a place where love is air
Say a prayer for us because your departure is hard to bare
Goodbye son, brother, husband and devoted father, faithful friend
Someday we will stand at heavens gate
We will embrace and we will remove griefs heavy weight
Love your sister Jane

I will sorely miss Bobs cheery smile and warm personality but most of all the chats Bob and I would have at work about soccer and how his beloved Liverpool would hopefully win the league or european cup this season.

It was a privilege to know Bob from our Chubb Philadelphia Office. His positive energy and warmth extended to all those who knew him. Bob was always quick to smile and happy to share his extensive knowledge and stories. He often talked proudly about his family and friends, including his much-loved dogs, Boomer and Bear! I will never forget this special soul.

I want to extend the condolences of my wife and I to the Boyle Family. I spend a lot of time in college with Robert including watching the NHL games with our group of friends.
Robert was the most calm person ever and it was truly a rare experience to see him angry.
WE will miss him.

My sincere condolences to the entire Boyle family. Bob and I began our college careers together as freshmen roommates at the ‘U’. I remember well his aptitude for accounting, his jovial nature, and his determination on the football team. He was a great guy. Sadly I cannot attend Bob’s services, but please know that caring thoughts are sent your way.

Bob was my brother-in-law for 36 years and he was unfailingly kind and loyal. It is rare to find someone who was as consistently upbeat as Bob. That makes it all the more brutal to lose him at such a young age. I take comfort knowing he is with his lord and savior as well as many other family members, most notably his dad, Dennis.

I did not know Bob, but I have just read his obituary and know his brother Joe and I know something my grandfather told me many years ago when we faced a loss. He said: "You live as long as you are well-remembered." From what I have just read and knowing Joe, I can say "Bob will be well-remembered." Please accept my sincerest condolences.
