Obituary of Robert Daniel Hildebrandt
Robert Daniel Hildebrandt, 88, of Bernardsville, NJ passed on Monday, January 28, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born and raised in Bloomfield, NJ. He was a long time resident of Glen Ridge and Normandy Beach. He attended Bloomfield High School and Newark College of Engineering. Robert served proudly in the US Navy and was stationed on the USS Manchester, USS Helena, and the USS Pasadena. Robert served proudly with the NJ State Police until opening his own business - NJ Semiconductor Products, where he was a pioneer of the replacement semiconductor industry, which supported Sylvania, GE, RCA, Thomson as well as Philips and others. While living in Glen Ridge, he served as a volunteer fireman and was a member of The Rotary Club. He was a world traveler. He loved spending summers at his Normandy Beach home with his family. He enjoyed golf, skiing, horse and sports betting, and was an avid NY Rangers fan.
Robert was predeceased by his son Gerald. He was also predeceased by two sisters Nora Martin and Helen Heitman. He is survived by his loving wife Constance, his four children, Virginia, Robert and wife Jennifer, David and wife ToniAnn, and Ronald and wife Patricia. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Allison, Robert, Katelyn, Brian, Jett, Cole, Eloradanan, two great grandchildren Ryann and Isabelle, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019, 11:00 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 111 Claremont Road, Bernardsville, NJ. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.
