Obituary of Lois Gill Rand
Lois Gill Rand, of the Landings in Savannah, Georgia, passed away on Friday,
August 31st at the age of 77 surrounded by her husband, children and
grandchildren. Born in East Orange, New Jersey, Lois and her husband Ken lived
for 28 years in Bernardsville, New Jersey, where they raised their family. Lois was
the Founder and President of the American Credit Bureau, a small locally owned
business. An outstanding leader with a focus on progressing women’s
involvement in politics, she was the NJ Deputy Director of Travel and Tourism
under the Tom Kean Administration, hosted a television show called Rand About
Jersey, and was the first woman to run in the Republican primary for governor in
the state of New Jersey. Lois was also an alumna of Wilson College, where she
was an enthusiastic member of their Board.
Loyal and generous, Lois was a master entertainer and cook. She and her husband
Ken often threw gourmet dinner parties and hosted fun, laughter filled weekends
with family and friends at their lake house in Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey. She
stayed active by playing tennis, paddle tennis, water skiing and racing sailboats
and traveled extensively abroad with her husband and friends, visiting most
European countries. For over forty-five years, she enjoyed spending time with
friends and family at the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club and the Roxiticus golf club.
Lois’s vibrant spirit will live on through her family. She is survived by her loving
husband of over 54 years, Kenneth R. Rand Jr. of Savannah, Georgia, daughter,
Wendy L. Rand of Park City, Utah, son, Kenneth R. Rand III, daughter in-law, Lynn
Hendricks Rand and grandchildren Hadley Rand, and Kenneth R. Rand IV (Kip) of
Mendham, New Jersey. She was predeceased by her mother, Viola Valentine Gill,
father Charles Wilson Gill, Sr., and three brothers, Wilson, Roger and David Gill.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home,
101 S. Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 from 11:00 - 12:00 pm. Interment will be held at
