Obituary of Assunta Crovelli

Parsippany, NJ -Assunta (Tina) Crovelli, 92, of Bernardsville passed away peacefully on June 6, 2018 at Care One in Parsippany after a battle with dementia.


She was born Nov 26, 1925 in Naples, Italy. She was the daughter of Francesco and Annunziata Costagliola. She met her husband Michael during WWII, married him in May of 1946 and came to the United States settling in Bernardsville, NJ where she resided most of her life.


Tina, as she was known to all, was always proud of the fact that she was a war bride and was happily married for 25 years to Michael before his untimely death in 1971. She worked as a domestic in the area until her late 70's.


Tina enjoyed cooking for her friend and family also loved to set a proper table for every special occasion. She loved to travel, going many place home and abroad. She enjoyed the beach and sitting poolside. She loved spending time with her 4 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren being a devout Catholic attending mass weekly at St. James Church.


She was predeceased by her husband Michael (Ziggy) and her brother Mario and a sister Lina Costagliola. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter Nan (Jay) Utz and son Michael of Bernardsville and a daughter Pamela (Mike) of Connecticut. She also leaves her grandchildren Melissa (Scott) Hartman, Michael J (Kristy), Brian Utz and Christa (Justin) Simons. Her 6 great- grandchildren Mason and Jake Hartman, Brianna, Julie, Michael A and Nicholas Crovelli and another due in November. Also surviving are her nieces Patrizia and Norma Costagliola of Italy.


Visitation will be held, Friday June 8, 4-6 at Gallaway and Crane Funeral home, 101 So. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge NJ. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Sat June, 9 at 9 am. at St. James Church, 184 So. Finley Ave. Basking Ridge, NJ. Interment will be at Somerset Hills Cemetery in Basking Ridge NJ.
