Obituary of Mary Jane Devine Kenny
Mary Jane Devine Kenny, 90, died on June 5th, 2018 on the feast of St. Boniface, at her home in Bernardsville, New Jersey, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.
A devoted wife to her husband Jim of 53 years, she was a devout traditional Roman Catholic who instilled the importance of the daily recitation of the rosary to her children.
Born on December 26th, 1927 in Newark, New Jersey, to Tura and C.J. Devine, financier and philanthropist. She was raised in the Llewelyn Park section of West Orange, New Jersey, and attended Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child and Rosemont College. A resident of Bernardsville, New Jersey for 28 years, she lived in Summit, New Jersey and Hobe Sound, Florida. She was a member of Morris County Golf Club and the Jupiter Island Club.
She married H. James Kenny Jr, WWII decorated pilot, on October 18, 1947. Mary Jane and her husband Jim raised 12 children. She is survived by Bonnie Cooper of Morristown, NJ, Christine Frisbee of Bedford, NY, Karen Kenny of New York City, Jim Kenny of San Jose, CA, Peter Kenny of Denver, CO, Meganne Kenny of Marlton, NJ, Christopher Kenny of Gladstone, NJ, Mark Kenny of Garrison, NY, and Tara McKenna of Leesburg, VA; 44 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Jim, her daughters Jandy Hemingway, Susan Long, Linda Kenny, and her grandson Richard Frisbee III. Mary Jane is also survived by her sisters Virginia Roll of Jupiter, Florida, and Susan Camilli of New York City.
A private family visitation will be held on June 6, 2018 from 3-6 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018, 10:00 am at Saint Anthony of Padua Oratory, 1360 Pleasant Valley Way, West Orange, NJ 07052. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair, NJ. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Community Food Bank of Hillside, New Jersey.
