Obituary of John N. Bain

BAIN, John Norbert, Bernardsville, NJ passed peacefully February 21, 2012 at 80. A highly regarded intellectual property and anti-trust attorney and litigator, John was an alumni of Cornell University, earned a BS from NJIT in chemical engineering '53 and a JD from Rutgers Law School '56. He was admitted to the NJ Bar and US District Court of NJ in '56, the US Patent and Trademark Office in '57, the US Court of Appeals of the Third Circuit in '64, the Bar of US Supreme Court in '66 and several other US District Courts. He specialized in complex trial and appellate litigation, domestic and international anti-trust litigation and highly technical and scientific patent and legal matters. Many of his cases set Legal precedent. He was Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of NJIT and member of the ExecutiveCommittee of the Board of Trustees of the Hospital Center of Orange and former Chairman of its foundation. He loved his family, science and technology. He was a lawyers' lawyer mentoring many young lawyers. John was predeceased by his wife of nearly 50 years, Dr. Beverly Konugres Bain. He is survived by his daughter Karin Bain Kukral, son in law John Z Kukral, 3 grandchildren, Jimmy, John and Julie of Old Greenwich, CT; nephew Thomas Bain, his wife and children, Michelle, Tyler and Kylene and many nieces and nephews. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Feb 25 at the Church of St. James, 184 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ at 10:00AM. A visitation will be held on Feb 24 2-4 and 6-8PM at The Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Basking Ridge.
