Obituary of Edwin F Cramer
Edwin ( Babe ) Ford Cramer passed away on March 8th at the age of 94 . He was born in Morristown NJ to Harold and Mary Dedkrowski Cramer . Ed’s 5 times great grandfather Matthias Cramer settled in Mendham NJ in 1732 coming from Germany. Ed was an army veteran serving with the 106th cavalry recon group in Europe during WW2 , first seeing combat on July 2nd 1944 in Normandy France. Their final mission was securing the release of King Leopold lll of Belgium from German SS troops at Strobl. The unit received the battle of the bulge medal and the Croix de guerre with palm from General de Gaulle . After the war he served with the NJ National Guard in Morristown NJ as a staff seargent until 1954 . Ed was an avid golfer and played well into his 90s . He was predeceased by his wife Mary Dolan Cramer of Morristown NJ , his sister Viola McLean and brother Harold his daughter Connie and son John . He is survived by his children Edwin of Warrenton VA , Robert and his wife Holly of Basking Ridge NJ , Lynn Nickerson of Bernardsville NJ , Ann Cramer and her husband Dennis Troutman of Fitzwilliam NH , Philip of Washington NJ , Jeremiah and his wife Leesa of Levittown PA , James of Medford OR and Mary Cramer of Flanders NJ , 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren . Visitation will be held on March 16, 2018 from 9:00 - 11:00am at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge NJ.
