Obituary of Harold Quis

Harold J. Quis, Jr., born on May 6, 1929 in Newark, NJ has passed from this life. He was the son of Harold J. Quis, Sr. and Helen Crealey Quis. A graduate from Union High School and Union Junior College, he completed his education at Florida Southern College with at Bachelor of Arts degree. He was a proud member of the US Marine Corp. His work at Celeanese Corporation and Union Camp Corporation prepared him for the designing of and ownership of X-RAIL Corporation in Newark. NJ. His company operated and maintained train terminals around the country to safely contain hazardous chemicals. During this time, he was appointed to the Newark Transportation Council. A lifelong resident of Bernardsville, N.J., Harold most appreciated his civic contributions. As a young man he was president of the Young Men's Board of Trade in New York City which sponsored Christmas shopping tours for orphans. He also was appointed to the Bernardsville Board of Adjustment and served faithfully as Councilman. He took great pride in his work as the organizer of Bernardsville's annual Memorial Day Parade. In 1998, he was honored with the Bernardsville Outstanding Community Volunteer Award. Harold loved to fish, loved animals and loved his faimily. He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Anne Garrett, Daphne Diane Quis and Aimee Suzanne Quis, his grand-daughters, Emily Anne Hogan, Carley Cain and Rachel Quis and his great-grand daughters, Rebecca Cain and Natalie Cain. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday Oct. 17, 2011 11:00 AM at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 9 Church Street, Bernardsville, NJ. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday Oct 16 2-5PM. Those planning on an expression of sympathy can send a donation to the Market Street Mission in Morristown, NJ or the Salvation Army in his name.
