Obituary of Barbara Mencher Hudgins

Barbara Mencher Hudgins of Basking Ridge, NJ Passed away on February 24th, 2011. She grew up in Brooklyn before living in Chatham Twp., NJ and then resided in Basking Ridge for the past 20 years. Barbara attended Brooklyn College and then received a Masters of Library Science from Pratt Institute. She worked as a Librarian for The NYC Public Library and the University of Hawaii before volunteering in her children's school library. She wrote many travel articles which then became the genesis of her self-published travel guide, "New Jersey Day Trips". Barbara loved to write and organized numerous writers' workshops to spread her passion. Barbara is survived by her loving daughter Lani and her husband Michael Duffy of Mt. Tabor, NJ, her son Robert Hudgins of Toronto, ON and two grandchildren Bridget and Kiera Duffy. She is also survived by her sister Phyllis Jones. Relatives and friends may visit the Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S.Finley Ave, from 1-2:30 PM on Sunday March 6th. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:30 PM.
