Obituary of John Ryan

John F. Ryan Jr passed away peacefully at his home in Bernardsville, NJ on January 12, 2010. Jack grew up in Brightwaters, Long Island where he was a graduate of Chaminade High School. In 1965 he graduated from Villanova University and began his 32-year business career with AT&T. He and his family lived in Tuxedo Park, NY from 1970 until 1975 when they moved to Bernardsville. Through the years he was a member of The Club at Point of Woods, The Tuxedo Club, The Essex Hunt Club and the Somerset Lake and Game Club. He served on the Boards of the United Way of Somerset Hills, the Far Hills Race Meeting Association, and the Essex Hunt Club. Some of his fondest memories were his years as coach of the Essex Hunt Club "Mighty Mites" from 1975 until 1986. He was a tennis player and an avid hockey fan and most of all he was a wonderful father. Jack is survived by his wife, Katie, and their three sons, John, Tim and Peter. He is also survived by his sisters and brother - Patty Ryan Armstrong, Betty Ryan Torphy, Frani Ryan McKeon, Jean Ryan Casey, Bob Ryan and Mary Pat Ryan and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Pat and John Ryan. A small private memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 17th. Afterward, a reception for all his family and friends to celebrate Jack's life will be held from 4PM to 7PM at the Bernards Inn in Bernarnardsville.
