I knew Ed as my mechanic for the last 9 years and always encouraged members of my congregation to use him, and they did. I would tell people that he was honest as they come. I remember when I had something wrong with my car and instead of fixing it and charging me, he told me to check with the dealer because it should be under warranty. I would have never known. He always had a smile and greeted you warmly. My condolences to his family on behalf of the West Orange Jewish community. He will be sorely missed. I hope that his family is strengthened by this and other fond memories of Ed.

My husband and I brought our cars in regularly to "Auto Ed." Ed was a "mensch" (Yiddush for a "good soul.")
I know he will be missed by many, many people.

I recommended the mechanic AutoEd on Eagle Rock Ave a few weeks ago on WOW and I was very sad to find out today, when i brought my car in to check for a smell of gas, that he died suddenly of a heart attack with no symptoms or illness. He was 54 leaving children 12, 14 and 16. The shop is determined to uphold his reputation as a fare, honest, charitable man who was a great mechanic. He did so for me for 13 years.
I will miss AutoEd.

I have been going to Ed for 13 years, and I am deeply saddened by his sudden loss. I am a single mother of 2 boys and I knew that Ed was the "man in my life" to make sure my car was safe for getting them to school and our road trips. He was loved by many.

Ed is my sister-in-laws brother. He had a great sense of humor. Most of all though he was a very kind compassionate man. When my older parents had difficulties both his brother Jeff & Ed were always right there to assist them. He had a strong hug that made me feel he cared.
My deepest sympathy to his sister Susan, his Barbara & Ed, his wife Monica, their 3 children & brother Jeff.
God Bless!

Although I have not seen him since he was a child, I will always remember our trips to Seaside with you Barb and our children when he was very young. Again I was so sorry to hear of his death.
