Obituary of August Imbimbo

August ("Augie") Charles Imbimbo, 79, of Bernardsville, NJ passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Summit, NJ, the son of Carmine and Josephine (Nunzello) Imbimbo of Berkeley Heights, NJ where he was raised. Mr. Imbimbo was a hard working man who spent many years in the steel and plastics industries, where he made tubing and precision fittings. He retired from Ethylene Corporation, Murray Hill, NJ in 2002. He was predeceased by his parents and sisters: Nancy Lawrence of Barnegat, NJ; Julia Imbimbo and Rose Knutson of Berkeley Heights, NJ. He is survived by the love of his life, Angelina ("Angel") Ventriglia Imbimbo, wife of 57 years; his son Charles J. Imbimbo and daughter-in-law Josephine Matta of Teaneck, NJ; his daughter Angela Imbimbo Iannelli and son-in-law Joseph Iannelli of Bernardsville, NJ and many loving relatives and friends. Known for his kindness, compassion and his love for helping others, Mr. Imbimbo was a good friend to all. He routinely did chores for people and was known for bringing them food and making hospital and social visits. He was also noted for his humor, creative use of language, and for his love of animals. He enjoyed spending time with his wife in Atlantic City, frequenting their favorite restaurants, and bird watching in their backyard. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. Funeral Mass is on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 111 Claremont Road, Bernardsville, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, 145 Mount Airy Road, Basking Ridge. In lieu of flowers, you may donate in his name to The Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills, The NJ Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary of Bernardsville or carry forward his deeds of kindness for others.
