Kathryn L. Gillespie, 97, of Basking Ridge, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at home. The presence of God was around her." Born in Plainfield, New Jersey, Kathryn resided in Elizabeth for 70 years before moving to Cranford and eventually to Basking Ridge. She was employed as Supervisor of Sales for Tenneco Chemicals, Piscataway, New Jersey until her retirement. She served as secretary for the North End Seniors (Blessed Sacrament Parish) and Our Lady of Fatima 50+ Club in Elizabeth. She was president of the former Sacred Heart Rosary Society. She played basketball for the Sacred Heart Catholic Club where she led them to numerous city championships. She was predeceased by a sister, Loretta Nolan, and a brother, Ralph J. Leary. She is survived by her three children, James Gillespie (Barbara Gillespie), Maureen Sharpe (Steven Sharpe), and Eileen Furst (James Furst); three loving grandchildren, three beloved great-grandchildren, and her sister, Verna Baumann.
