Obituary of Richard A. Itz

Richard Itz, 74 of Basking Ridge, NJ passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 13, 2026 after complications from a heart procedure. He fought a hard and courageous fight.

Richard was born on February 1st, 1952, in Kearny, New Jersey. He was the beloved son of Anthony and Elizabeth Itz. He grew up in Point Pleasant, NJ, a place that held a very special place in his heart.

Richard graduated from the University of Charleston in 1974, where he was a proud member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. He went on to build a successful career as a sales executive in New York City, a role he was incredibly proud of.

Throughout his life, Richard was known for his cheerful personality, charisma, sense of humor, and love for his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, being a father and grandfather, working at Coakley-Russo Golf Course, and cheering on the Yankees, Giants, and Providence Friars.

Those who knew Richard will remember his unmistakable head of hair, his humor, his infectious personality, and the warmth he brought to every room. Above all, Richard was devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maryellen; his son, Vince; his daughter, Morgan; his daughter-in-law, Serena; and his grandchildren, Amal and Antonello. He also leaves behind many others who were fortunate enough to be considered family by Richard.

The visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint James Chapel, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. 

Richard leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy of love that will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
